Anna & Beau’s Sweet Cheery Yellow and Grey Wedding with Rustic DIY Details

Anna and Beau’s lovely ceremony took place on the waterfront at a private residence while their reception took place at The Shores Country Club. While both settings provided gorgeous backdrops for their celebration, I don’t think there can be anything more beautiful than the looks of love these two exchanged all throughout the day… just look at how adorably in love the are ! The couple also included pretty rustic elements to complement their yellow and grey motif, and lots of personal touches including a sweet (surprise!) serenade by Beau for Anna at the ceremony.

Kevin and Nicole Berg of Berg Photography had only the sweetest words to say about the couple and their special day:

“Forever can never be long enough for me to feel like I’ve had long enough with you. Forget the world now, we wont let them see but there’s one thing left to do…”

That’s the first verse to the song “Marry Me” by Train… the song Beau sang to Anna as he proposed. The song that Anna surprised Beau with as she walked down the aisle. Beau and Anna are made for each other. As a hopeless romantic myself, I’ve always believed in “the one.” Beau is Anna’s “one.” Anna is Beau’s “one.” If you are lucky enough to spend five minutes with this couple, you know they are perfect together. Since Nicole and I have been lucky enough to be a small part of Anna and Beau’s life, we’ve been able to be a part of the one thing they had left to do… get married.

I could write for hours about how amazing these two are, both as individuals and as a couple. They are the people you meet and you instantly feel like you’ve been friends forever. They are the people that bring out the best in you, simply by being themselves. Their wedding day was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. To see how happy they were, how happy their friends and family were, and to be able to experience the love during their day was simply amazing. There was not a dry eye during their ceremony. It was simply beautiful.

Let’s get to know the beautiful twosome a little bit. Here’s the lovely bride Anna to tell us all about herself & Beau + what made their wedding uniquely their own:

My husband is pre-med and is going to make a wonderful, patient-centered physician someday! I am a teacher! We met 4 years ago to the day that we got married. We were friends first. He was determined to either marry me or at the very least (he says) become my friend. He ended up doing both! He is the sweetest and most caring man I’ve ever known! He does the dishes for me after I cook, makes me coffee in the morning (one of our shared hobbies), leaves me sweet sticky notes in obscure places, loves God more than me, and takes interest in the things I care about. I married my best friend and the greatest man in the world. I don’t know how I got so lucky!

When our unity candles wouldn’t light (that we placed in lanterns so that wouldn’t happen lol) he took over and surprised me by singing & playing a song that he wrote for me for that day. 🙂 Greatest moment I’ve ever had. He forgot the words a few times and made up silly lyrics on the spot which made me love the song all the more!

We did a lot of stuff by hand, from the twine wrapped white grape juice bottles that doubled as our table numbers, to the coffee dyed wooden place cards we had on our tables.

We wanted our bridal party to feel beautiful/handsome for the day so I allowed my bridesmaids to choose a dress that fit their body type best and they all looked stunning! My Jr. Bridesmaids had handmade gray tutus and ivory tops to mimic my dress as well as complement the bridesmaids. The groomsmen chose their own ties from a selection the Beau picked out and we gave handkerchiefs, personalized money clips and yellow and grey stripped socks as gifts.

My favorite detail was Beau’s JCrew suit and custom made bow tie from Etsy dealer “paperINgenuity”. (He chose it all and wouldn’t let me see it until day of).

Beau loves Oreos we had a grooms cake made out of tiered Oreos and paired it with a 3 gallon champagne fountain that we filled with milk!! Turned out amazing!!!

At the reception we left little note cards for people to write down their favorite memories of the day. Those were so special to read after our honeymoon!

Some parting words and advice:

We really wanted it to be memorable and fun! We’re both pretty laid back. Lots of stuff didn’t turn out “just right”…we both just shrugged our shoulders and focused on what the day was really about…us and all the wonderful people that made the sacrifice to drive, fly or cross oceans for our wedding (most of our family and friends were from out of town/overseas.) OH!! And take some time during the ceremony to mentally take in all the details. I told my dad as we walked down the aisle to “slow down cause I wanted to remember it all.” I’ve never been happier or more excited about anything in my whole life and now I remember so much about the day!
