Ebony & Maurice’s Elegant and Edgy Urban E-session

The Strip District e-session

There’s something about a well-dressed couple in a gritty urban setting that can really make an e-session stand out, don’t you think? Maybe it’s the edgy rock and roll vibe it gives off, or perhaps it’s because it communicates “we do things our own way” more than anything, as proven by these previously-featured urban sessions and Ebony & Maurice’s downtown Pittsburgh shoot which I’m sharing with you today.

Stacey Cecere of Simply Couture Photography, responsible for the lovely photos, had the following to say about the day:

Ebony and Maurice were a super stylish couple and a blast to work with.  Right away I knew we would have a lot of fun during their engagement session. They knew they wanted a fun urban background to fit with their fun and outgoing lifestyle. So, we settled with a popular area near downtown Pittsburgh known as the Strip District. The Strip District is known for its eclectic array of shops, restaurants, and artisan markets-not to mention, an amazing and colorful art mural, which I am currently obsessed with!

If you’re wracking your brain for e-session outfit ideas, do take a cue from the couple. I loved how they dressed in matching black and white PLUS a statement piece — red high heels!

And now here’s pretty Ebony to tell us more about herself and Maurice:

Maurice is in the US Airforce Reserves & has served two tours under OEF/OIF, but his civilian job is as a Fuels Accountant with Maytag, as a contractor to the US Airforce. I am an Incarcerated Veterans Specialist for the US Dept of Veterans Affairs….we did not meet because of this though…lol.

Our story isn’t that exciting. We met through some mutual friends, but never thought we would be in a relationship with each other (or at least I didn’t…he says he knew right away that he liked me, but I needed convincing…lol). We were just friends for about a year & talked just as friends through his first deployment in 2009. At the time, I lived in Harrisburg, PA. When he came home, we started hanging out & eventually something just clicked for me. We began dating in Dec 2010, spent New Years together & have been together ever since. I eventually moved to Pittsburgh in March 2012 & we were engaged in April 2012. He went on his 2nd deployment in May 2012. I thought the deployment wouldn’t be so bad since we had done the long distance thing for over a year, but it was totally different! It was HORRIBLE! He’s literally my best friend & I missed him like crazy. He came home in Oct 2012. We planned a destination wedding for Las Vegas, NV & we married on June 29, 2013 at the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino at the Chapel in the Clouds at 8pm overlooking the strip. It was AMAZING!

Ebony, on their e-session:

Maurice is from the city & although I grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, I have always hung out in the city & loved everything about it & you can’t get more urban yet artistic in Pittsburgh, in my opinion, than the Strip District. It has graffiti, warehouses, alleys, cobblestone, train tracks, & a gorgeous view of one of the best views in Pittsburgh…our skyline! So when we thought about locations, it had to be there. Thankfully, Stacey agreed. She had wonderful ideas about specific places to take the photos & was a joy to work with, so all the credit goes to her. She made us feel very comfortable. The clothes were my idea. I wanted something classic & clean for Maurice & myself, but a little edgy. I’m obsessed with shoes so with the black & white, red was the obvious choice. We love everything about the shoot & we will be contacting Stacey to do our photos once we start a family 🙂

Thank you Stacey for sending this beautiful shoot my way, and congratulations Ebony and Maurice! Here’s wishing you guys a happy forever. 🙂
